Kiel Ranch Update

Kiel Ranch dates to the early Mormon Settlement era, c. 1856 but has not been open to the public since the city of North Las Vegas acquired the park in 1976.  For more information on the history of Kiel Ranch, see our October 2005 newsletter.  Photos depicting the current state of Kiel Ranch are available in the Photo Gallery.  See http://mrhinton.org/kiel%20ranch.htm for resources on the history of Kiel Ranch.

The City of North Las Vegas has contracted with Coe Van Loo to master plan Kiel.  A public meeting was held January 14 at the NLV library where options for the master plan were introduced.  To view the plan options visit the city of North Las Vegas website at www.cityofnorthlasvegas.com.  On February 10 and March 10 attend the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meetings at North Las Vegas Library at Civic Center Drive near Lake Mead, 5:45 pm, and voice your support that Kiel be developed as a historic park.
